Schneider Electric Holds No. 1 position in Worldwide Power Meter Market - 30 November 2006

According to IMS Research, Schneider Electric enjoys an impressive market share rank amongst all four major performance classes in the worldwide power meter market, including a dominant position in the higher end performance class market. Fluke, a leading provider of portable electrical testing equipment, achieved second position on the worldwide market with a strong presence in the lower end power meter market.

“Schneider Electric’s top position in the market can be attributed to its corporate worldwide presence and more specifically its brand recognition within the power quality industry with Square D, Merlin Gerin, Telemecanique, and the recently acquired ION Series of meters from Power Measurement.” Commented report author, Michael Markides.

The report shows a competitive and fragmented landscape within the basic and compact meter markets, with Schneider Electric holding the top spot for basic power meters with an estimated share of 9.5%, while Fluke is estimated to be in the second spot with a 9% share of the basic power meter market. Schneider Electric holds a more dominant position within the market for advanced and premium power meters, a market that has many less suppliers than the lower end classes and is also magnitudes smaller, in terms of unit shipments.
