Despite being lumbered with all the public market debt, Motorola’s newly proposed Enterprise Mobility Solutions And Networks Group (EMSN) is a hidden gem with a strong future ahead. Although Motorola as a whole has been heavily criticised over the last two years, in particular the mobile devices division, its Enterprise Mobility group remains very successful, placing the new EMSN Business in good stead. Research Analyst, Jatinder Thandi from IMS Research (www.imsresarch.com) stated, “Last year, sales for the Enterprise Mobility Solutions group (EMS) represented $7.0 billion; a key element of this was its mobile radio business. You would be forgiven if you were unfamiliar with this industry; however, it generates tens of billions of dollars a year, with Motorola being the 800lb gorilla in the room.” The mobile radio market largely revolves around blue light communications but also covers a vast array of two-way radio users worldwide. Thandi went on to say, “Looking ahead, the mobile radio industry is going through a large scale migration from analogue to digital. Motorola is in an excellent position, having a large portfolio of digital technologies that cater to all end-users and key IPR that will enable it to continue its dominance of the mobile radio industry. In IMS Research latest report, “Worldwide market for Licensed Mobile Radio – 2009 Edition”, Motorola tops the market share table across every segment of the industry.” With the impressive early success of its new DMR equipment, Motorola continues to innovate in this space, providing a platform for continued success. |
