SDR vs. ASIC: the Future of Cellular Infrastructure 23 February 2006
Despite evidence that the global 2G infrastructure market remains strong in 2005, the long term picture is one of decline as users migrate to their 3G network of choice. Recent rollouts and expansions of 2G networks in emerging markets primarily across Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe have sustained the market in recent years. However, as the migration to 3G networks gathers pace in mature Asian, Western European and North American markets IMS Research forecasts that the demand for 2G voice channels will more than halve over the next five years. Highlighting this is that, during the same period, IMS Research predicts that the number of worldwide W-CDMA subscribers will grow at 65% each year on average, a figure that is nearly matched by the growth expected for cdma2000 1xEVDO.

Physical and Logical Access in Unison: The Future for Access Control 06 September 2005
The transition to contactless smart cards is beginning to make large strides forward in the Americas access control market, according to a new report from IMS Research.
